State Testing Results
The following state tests will be administered in NMUSD each year:
- The Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) for Math in grades 3-8 & 11.
- The Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) for English Language Arts in grades 3-8 & 11.
- The California Science Test (CAST) in grades 5, 8, 11, & 12.
The score reports will be made available late summer/early fall on the Aeries Parent Portal.
You may see score reports for SBA Math, SBA ELA, and California Science Test (CAST). If the test was not administered to your student, the score report will say "Not Tested", and you can disregard.
Lexile® & Quantile® reports will be made available alongside CAASPP reports. You will see them in the Aeries Parent Portal under LEXQUAN. These scores are supplemental, and are based on the English and Math portions of the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA.)
The Lexile® is a measure of your student's reading ability.

"Starting Smarter" helps parents use state score reports to better understand their child's strengths and areas in need of improvement. It includes sample score reports, sample test questions, a parent guide to parent-teacher conferences, and resources for learning at home.
