Newport Harbor enriches student learning through three CTE pathways that integrates core academic knowledge with technical and occupational knowledge to provide students with a pathway to post-secondary education and careers. Our pathways include Business Finance, Culinary Arts, and Digital Media Arts.

Business Management

Interested in creating your own business, taking a leadership role, or being part of a larger team? The Business Management pathway will guide you on your way to a successful career in the corporate workplace. We offer courses in that teach financial planning, entrepreneurship, business ethics, business competitions and presentations.

Food Service and Hospitality

Our award winning Culinary Arts program teaches students the fundamentals of cooking, knife skills, and nutrition. In the Culinary and Advanced Culinary classes, students do competitions and catering. The catering teaches students about the inner workings of the restaurant business.

Design, Visual & Media Arts

The Digital Media Arts program offers a comprehensive look at the various skills needed in the entertainment media industry. Students may start at the freshman level taking Digital Art, which offers a fundamental look at graphic design, composition and digital painting. Students may move on to Entertainment Art to focus their digital drawing and painting skills for concept art for both animation and film. Students interested more in Still photography may choose at the Junior and Senior level to take Visual Imagery and Advanced Visual Imagery. The courses allow students to get a deeper knowledge of the manual DSLR camera and commercial photography. Students interested in the moving camera will go on to take Animation and the Art of TV/Video Production. Students will learn motion graphics, industry production cameras, green screen, and special effects. Most importantly, students will ground their studies in learning how to tell a story.
